Ju Jitsu is a practical self defence system which, with a history that can be traced to India and some two thousand years before the birth of Christ, making it one of the oldest fighting art in existence.  Today, in the clubs following this ancient martial art, members follow the various training syllabi which are based on working together in an attacker/defender relationship from novice to the coveted Black Belt.

The visual side of Ju Jitsu is harder to describe, many who see it for the first time believe it to be judo while others see it as karate and in many cases the confusion is understandable as some Ju Jitsu coaches lean towards Karate style teaching and some towards Judo style teaching. The mistake many of these teachers make is that they have forgotten the JU in the name, it means, soft, supple or gentle, to move with or to bend with. A relaxed physical posture does not mean a relaxed mental one, a Ju Jitsu practitioner while being relaxed and calm in body will be aware and alert in mind. Ju Jitsu is a complete self defence system which is both practical in application and enjoyable to learn, the experience and knowledge learned through thousands of years have made the art what it is today. Ju Jitsu is fun and Ju Jitsu is for everyone, young and old alike, from 6 to 60 it has much to offer.  Ju Jitsu will be everything good you wish it to be.
